In MB diet, whole dried beans and bean products are usually eaten daily or several times per week. Beans that are more northerly in origin, smaller in size, and contain less fat are eaten more frequently - azuki, lentils, chick-peas, black soy beans. Medium-sized beans are used occasionally - pintos, kidneys, yellow soybeans. Large beans that are more southerly in origin are prepared rarely - limas, favas. In addition to beans, tofu, tempeh, natto may be used daily or several times a week.
